Hospitalogists,

I’ve got some big news to share about the future of Hospitalogy that affects this newsletter and our community — consider it one small step for Blake, one giant leap for Hospitalogy.

The TLDR:

  • I’m revamping my bi-weekly newsletter to deliver impactful stories, compelling visuals, and a wealth of information in a more digestible, punchier format. So, you know…you’ll actually read the whole thing!
  • I’m doubling down on community to offer more exclusive analysis and fire-side chats with experts, plus more opportunities to connect, learn, and talk golf shop with fellow healthcare professionals across the landscape. Oh — and I’m cutting the price in half, to make it accessible to more healthcare pros in the trenches.

First, a quick ‘state of the Hospitalogy’ update:

Simply put, Hospitalogy exceeded all expectations for the first quarter of the year. What, did you think it was gonna be bad news? Ad revenue is up. The number of quality sponsors wanting to work with us is up (thanks to my partner in crime, Keith Jayne — talk to him if you want to team up!). Organic growth is up. Engagement is up.

This is all thanks to you. As of this writing, we’re up to almost 30,000 subscribers across healthcare. These positive developments are incredibly encouraging signals as we build out a media engine within healthcare and take down Beckers for good grow the newsletter into a media empire that gives healthcare pros a place to nerd out and think about the big issues.

Things are working in the right direction, and that feels good, fam.

So, why the change?

You know what they say, “do what you love, and you’ll… work every day for the rest of your life?”

I’m a one-man shop. I spend a ton of time researching, writing, networking, conversations, attending webinars, reading whitepapers, inputting data into Excel, generating cool visuals — everything I can to make sure my newsletter is the highest quality I can possibly muster on a twice-weekly basis.

I absolutely love doing this work. And, I want to do more. I want to break down the silos in healthcare. I want to build a place where the most informed people can collaborate to create a real impact at their respective orgs. And, I want to keep creating content hyper-useful for people like you — who are just as busy as I am.

What’s next?

This next phase of growth for Hospitalogy comes from doubling down on community. It’s where I think I can create some real impact and move the needle forward in healthcare through…

  • Community-exclusive deep dives (every other week!)
  • Quarterly healthcare memos
  • Expert calls & fireside chats with healthcare leaders across the landscape
  • Emergency Briefings for when news breaks in the industry
  • Newsletter guest-posting and collaboration opportunities
  • More time for me to devote to the community to support Hospitalogy’s ongoing growth & financial success
  • & more as we continue to build out this offering

Who should join?

While the community isn’t exclusive to these folks, I’ve identified a few different roles who would benefit from joining:

  • The health system or provider organization strategist/analyst/corporate dev representative working across departments looking to understand what’s next and what to prepare for;
  • The healthcare investor looking for an edge or for more information on more nuanced healthcare topics;
  • The healthcare consultant or advisor looking to inform their projects or understand the ongoing issues to better inform clients;
  • More generally, anyone in healthcare who engages in strategic or financial thinking for their organization, has a passion for learning, intellectual curiosity and desire for deeper discussions around how the system works, and a hunger to break down silos across the industry would be a perfect fit for the collective group we’re building.

Thank you for being a Hospitalogist!

You guys are enabling me to do what I love — weirdly, writing and talking about healthcare — and I wouldn’t be where I am without all of you.

I’ve enjoyed getting to know a growing number of you, and I hope that we can connect in the community and get to know each other even more. If you’re interested in learning more or joining, click this link. Or shoot me a note. I’d love to answer any questions you might have.

Best,

Blake Madden
